Sk|ink| Tales is a proposal focused on sound and tattoo experimentation. Commissioned as part of the collective exhibition *“We Are All Guests #13”* under the South Explorer Rotterdam residency with Foundation B.a.d., this project places the spectator in the role of the creator, turning them into both a musician and a tattoo artist.
As participants take on these dual roles, they dive into a playful yet profound exploration of creation and impermanence. By applying pressure with the tattoo needle on the skin canvas, they not only leave a tangible mark but also trigger the production of unique and irreproducible soundscapes through the speakers.
Each interaction becomes a collaborative act, where the physicality of tattooing merges with the auditory world, blurring the lines between art forms. There’s a childlike wonder in making simple designs based on the spectator's own memories and emotions, contrasting with the inherent risks of working with a real needle. The duality of innocence and danger is a key aspect of this project.
This proposal benefits from the infinite possibilities of creating a collection of different collaborations, frozen in time and onto the canvas, which changes with each installation.
